Does anyone else see what's going on here? Maybe LeBron James is trying to tell us something with these outrageous goggles.
Why do many villainous characters wear ROUND GOGGLES or SUNGLASSES?
Sunglasses prevent anyone from seeing their eyes or reading their emotions and thus help to promote their anonymity. The darkness makes them look more sinister.
"Eyes are the window to the soul." They do play a significant role in expression and communication. It's not like someone slaps on a set of round shades to do something corrupt. But the anonymity shades offer prevents people from looking you in the eyes. We know who the person is, but we can't "read" them as well.
Media has also taught us this symbolism by repetitively creating villains with this trademark accessory. Sunglasses are even nicknamed "Shades" meaning dark or suspicious.
Remember that song, "I wear my sunglasses at night" by Corey Hart? People in the '80s thought dark shades made you look badass. Instant street cred. If you think about it, people wear sunglasses to block bright light, to see what's going on. Metaphorically, the song suggests the sunglasses block the lies so he can see the truth. James could simply be trying to block out the bright lights (yeah, I have a hard time believing that too).
It's possible LeBron is wearing these round shades to appear to hide from the spotlight he creates "LOOK-AT-ME but don't really look at me."
Or maybe he's living up to his EPSY award for Best Record-Breaking Performance of the Year. He knows how to bring the drama.
They could simply be a fashion statement to create a buzz - and it's certainly earned him attention. Whatever the case, it worked. Love the glasses or hate them, just like LeBron, they give him the vibe he was trying to achieve.
... Or he's setting the stage for a nefarious Lakers 2023-24 NBA Basketball season. Now that flops will result in a technical foul free throw for the opposition, he'll have to seek revenge in other diabolical plays. Muahahaha!
Speaking of... We have sunglasses to create your own handsomely devilish look. Or because it's summer and super bright outside.
